Marie Lacigová

She studied at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague and at the Faculty of Pedagogy of Charles University in Prague (1951). Painter, cartoonist, illustrator, graphic designer of many books with her illustrations, e.g. fairy tales K.J. Erben, B. Němcová, J. Š Baar, illustrated Chod and Pilsner legens, many times exhibited especially in Pilsen, member of Union of Fine Artists of the Pilsen region, holder of Historical Seal of the city of Pilsen. Her work is characterized by the precise presentation of real motives with a sense of detail and thorough knowledge of historical realities (folk costumes, flora, etc.), but it is neither strange nor fanciful imagination in fairy-tale scenes. She is interested in Pilsner themes from architecture, history and folklore, which she has worked on many times in her paintings, drawings and graphics. Selected works are characteristic of her work.
