Josef Hodek

Josef Hodek was a Czech artist - painter and graphic artist. Artistically educated by his father, the painter Josef Hodek, with Josef Váchal, K. Reisner and Alessandra de Pian in Prague. The painting was dedicated to figural themes, images from the forties represented man in the landscape at work. In free graphics preferred woodcut and lithography. Files created bookplates, published a bibliophile works and illustrated books. He has also worked as a teacher at Slovacko, collected folk songs, wrote folk customs and traditions, described the lives of people in various areas of its work.
He exhibited from r. 1921 in Prague, Pilsen, Brussels, London, Leipzig and many other cities. From 1922 he was a member of the Association of Pilsen artists with whom also exhibited. It is represented in the collections of the National Gallery in Prague, City Gallery, Museum of West Bohemia and elsewhere.
